Hurricane Gustav proved to be more to Baton Rouge than any other before on record. While the true impact was not felt until long after Gustav left. I now reside in the East Baton Rouge Parish. For those of you not from Louisiana that is similar to a county or township. We experienced a 100% blackout for the parish. There are parts in the parish and elsewhere in the state that are estimated to have power out for 2-3 more weeks. Upon hearing the news I packed a bag and headed north. After an 18 hour drive I will be staying in Newmanstown, PA for the next few weeks while everything gets back to normal. I will also be staying in the area for my mom’s 50th birthday party. Everything seems to work out just right.

Gustav chased me out… After the Storm
Wednesday, September 10th, 2008Gas is at a premium
Wednesday, September 3rd, 2008Due to power outages throughout southern Louisiana gas is near impossible to get. Several gas stations have opened up on generator power. Here is a picture of the line we are currently sitting in. Cellular is our only connection to the Internet and it is intermittent. Thank goodness for the iPhone wordpress app.
